Part home improvement store, part home goods store, ReStore is a Habitat for Humanity retail store whose proceeds help build homes for working families in Columbia and Greene Counties. Friends of ReStore make tax-deductible donations of merchandise that is sold at low prices while keeping these goods out of landfills.

Acceptance Criteria
We are able to accept items that are ready for sale. We are unable to accept items that need repair or missing parts; are stained, cracked, broken, moldy, dirty, chewed or rusted. When picking up donations, ReStore drivers make the final decision as to the acceptability of items to be donated.
We Can Accept
- New, gently-used, vintage and antique solid wood furniture; new and like-new upholstered furniture
- Vintage dinnerware sets (complete), rugs, artwork, mirrors, clocks, vases, crystal, ceramics, collectibles, etc.
- Clean, working appliances (stoves, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, washers and dryers) less than 10 years old
- Kitchen cabinet sets, matching countertops, stainless steel/laminate/composite kitchen sinks and accessories
- Bathroom vanities; white and neutral bathroom sinks, tubs, showers, toilets and accessories
- Functioning lamps and interior/exterior light fixtures
- Working heaters, fireplaces, wood stoves and accessories; new and gently used air conditioners, floor/window fans and other small appliances and gadgets
- Solid doors and double-glazed windows
- New and unused building materials, including dimensional lumber, insulation, complete roofing bundles, packaged tiles, packaged hardware
- New and lightly-used electrical, plumbing and carpentry supplies
- Major non-automotive tools, including working power and vintage tools with minimal rust
- Full cans of paint less than 5 years old that have been stored in a warm/dry place
- Sewing machines in good working order, vintage and new
- Accent pillows
- Excellent condition throw blankets
- Fine table cloths
- Heavy duty and porcelain cookware
- Clean and good working vacuums/rug shampooers
- New ladders
- New shower doors
- New blinds, drapery/curtains
- Curtain rods (complete)
- Faucets
- Screen doors – metal and wood in good condition
- New ceiling fans

- Composite/synthetic/pressed board furniture, commercial/industrial furniture, computer desks
- Baby furniture, other infant/toddler items, play sets, toys
- Exercise/sports equipment
- Mattresses, box springs, bedding, window treatment accessories
- Wire/plastic shelving, storage unit components
- Unframed glass or mirrors
- Pots and pans, non-vintage dinnerware, drinkware, flatware, table linens
- Wall ovens, dishwashers made before 2015, countertops with sink cut-outs, cabinet doors
- Electronic equipment including computers, printers, TVs, phones, speakers
- Animal equipment/supplies
- Used building materials with exposed nails, used ladders
- Incomplete battery-operated tool sets, loose fasteners
- Commercial and track lighting, recessed can lights, ceiling fans, loose light bulbs, fluorescent tubes
- Flooring, wall-to-wall carpeting, unbound carpeting
- Roof/attic ventilation, used duct work, water heaters
- Screen doors and doors that are hollow or solid composite, sliding glass doors
- Single-pane windows, storm windows, screens without windows
- PVC pipes/elbow parts, gutter parts, pool supplies (covers, pumps, filters, etc)
- Books, unless related to home building/recycling/reuse/refurbishment
- Accessibility/safety equipment (walkers, wheelchairs, emergency alert devices, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, etc.)
- Partial cans of paint, oil-based paint, pesticides, fertilizers, other hazardous chemicals
- Moratorium in effect for entertainment centers, bathtubs, bi-fold doors, platform beds, pianos, hutches and radiators. Check with staff before dropping off these donations.

What new and gently used goods can you buy at Habitat ReStore?
Do you take credit cards? Do you take checks?
Yes. We take Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards and checks with valid driver’s licenses.
How often does merchandise change?
Merchandise changes daily. Like us on Facebook and Instagram to see our latest inventory.
What do you do with your proceeds?
ReStore supports Habitat’s home building programs in Columbia and Greene Counties.
Are merchandise prices firm?
Yes. There are frequent departmental sales and furniture markdowns from 10% to 40%. Clearance items are 50% off.
Can I put money down to hold an item?
We don’t accept deposits because our business relies on rapid inventory turnover and we have limited warehouse space.
Do you take goods on consignment? Can we do an exchange?
No. Our business model consists simply of selling donated merchandise at discounted prices.
How long can you hold my purchases?
We hold customers’ purchases for 7 days. After that, the merchandise is returned to the sales floor as a donation.
Can I return my purchase?
We have a no-return policy on most merchandise, with the exception of electrical items, if they fail to operate within 7 days of purchase.
