Columbia-Greene Community College
Habitat Club
The Habitat for Humanity Club at Columbia-Greene Community College works directly with Columbia County Habitat for Humanity to help support its mission of building safe, decent, and affordable housing for working families throughout the county. Students are given the chance to work with experienced construction professionals and volunteers from the community in building or rehabilitating homes in Columbia County. Students also have the opportunity to work at the Hudson ReStore. The Habitat ReStore is part home improvement store, part home goods store and part resale shop whose proceeds directly support Habitat’s mission in Columbia County.
Members of C-GCC’s Habitat Club will also have the opportunity to participate in Habitat’s Collegiate Challenge program that provides year-round alternative school break volunteer opportunities to college students across the United States.
Service volunteering with a Habitat Club can be transformative for students as they learn on the front-lines and witness their own potential for making an impact on the world around them. As one of the longest running student volunteer programs, the Collegiate Challenge is unique in offering year-round volunteer opportunities for students across the U.S.
The C-GCC Habitat Club will meet regularly on campus in a social setting to learn new skills and to prepare for hands-on building and other volunteering opportunities in the community.
